W-2 for 2021 AVAYA GROUP LIFE INSURANCE

Postby ravenclaw » Tue Mar 08, 2022 6:31 am

Anybody receive a W-2 for 2021 Avaya Group Life Insurance from ALIGHT SOLUTIONS as in previous years ? Called them and advised they do not issue them as Met Life assumed the administration of Avaya Group Life Insurance in August, 2021. Called Met Life, advised they do not issue W-2s. Contacted ALIGHT SOLUTIONS again, ( they run the AVAYA Pension Center), advised they can see my profile details but my pension is administered by the PBGC, (I know that). At this point, thinking of filing IRS 1040 tax forms for 2021 without that required W-2 and let the IRS flag the missing W-2 which they most likely received which would result of an IRS notification and balance of income tax due.

I received a W2 from Alight Solutions in Feb 2022. The taxable amount is dropping, per the next topic in the forum postings under Retired Employees < Pension, dlbritton is suggesting Basic Life amount is 1 times final annual salary. It is probably indexed downward by 10% of the original amount yearly starting at age 66 until 70 when it will be 50% of the original amount. That person was fuzzy on the details, my recollection of W2's received to date, I'm expecting a few more W2's and I'll be at the 50K level which isn't taxable.

Thanks, to all for the replies. Now back to ALIGHT SOLUTIONS and work the escalation process to resolve this.

I have not received the W2 covering the life insurance premiums either. Could be associated with my moving last year, but all 1099's got to me as well as the Met Life change documentation. Anyone have a phone number I can call?

I failed to receive a W-2 from Alight for tax year 2021. After having no success getting anything useful from the Pension Service Center, I called Met Life and got a live person. I learned that somehow Met Life had my wrong address (I moved 2 years ago and got a W-2 from Alight at my new address last year). He corrected my address, but told me that Met Life doesn't issue the W-2s, that I'd need to talk with Avaya about that. I made a noble effort to contact Avaya again, but to no avail. So I filed my tax return without including any W-2 figures. Mt financial guy says the worst that could happen is that the IRS could send me a letter telling me I owe $x more. I think odds may be that no one notices, but if they do, I'll explain my good-faith efforts to get a W-2. I'm hoping somehow that if Met Life now has my correct address, I'll get the W-2 next year.
