Does anyone know if we will/should receive (2) W-2’s for the lump sum payment and life insurance costs?

Does anyone know if we should be or will be getting (2) W-2 which includes the lump sum payment and life insurance costs?
I received only one from Alight which does not reflect the correct total. Did anyone receive theirs from State Street?

Doreen, I received a W-2 from Alight for my 17% Supplemental payout, and a 1099-R for my pension from 1/2/18 - 6/1/18. The 1099-R is wrong, at least according to my calculations, and I'll be calling them to find out why the discrepancy.

I received on W-2 statement from Alight Solutions, and it reflects the Supplemental payout we received, as well as the life insurance contribution (Box 12a).
It is accurate, in my case. My 1099-R from Alight reflects 6 monthly pension payments as paid by Avaya, until they turned the pension plan over to PBGC.
State Street Retirement Services is really only responsible for a 1099-R for the pension payments made since they took over the Pension plan for salaried employees. As someone previously noted, it reflects 7 payments: June 1 thru Dec 1, 2018. In my case, forms reflected correct amounts paid out. Hope that helps.

Missing figures

Postby adalou4210 » Thu Jan 31, 2019 8:36 pm

I received my husband's State Street 1099-R today and there is no amount listed in Box 2A, taxable income. Has anyone else had this problem? I looked on last year's and the amount was the same as in Box 1, but I'm afraid to use the same amount of gross distribution since the taxable amount box is blank. My husband has had strokes, so he can't help me. Do I need to contact State Street? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You should not have received a 1099-R from State Street last year at least for Avaya related income. This 1099-R is from the PBGC and they were not the payee of the pension in 2017. I have completed my taxes and it made no difference that an amount was not included in box 2a.

I've received the State Street (PBGC) and one Alight (the settlement), but I did not receive a 1099 from Alight for the half year Avaya was paying the regular pension.
The Alight web site lets me log in, but other than a message to contact PBGC with any questions, all other functionality is gone.
I did find the Alight phone number 844-868-6236. It just has a recording saying they will mail the 1099 forms by 1/31, and to contact them after 2/15 if we don't get it.
Is anyone else still waiting for their 1099?

Look at box 2B. It is probably checked which just means that State street did not calculate the taxable amount. Your box 2A should probably be the same as box 1. Unless your husband somehow contributed money directly to his pension, all of the distribution is taxable. You can verify this by looking at previous years to see if box 1 and box 2A are the same. Hopefully, this will help you.
